Looking for a reliable VPN that gets the job done? IPVanish doesn’t screw around. It might not stand out amongst the pack, but it’s a good all-round VPN. There’s nothing to hate here, but there also aren’t any key features that make it stand out from the competition. Read on now for the full IPVanish review.
Feature-wise, IPVanish is one of the best VPNs out there. With over 500 servers spread between 60-odd countries, your IP address will become way more cultured than you are. Its Tier 1 network allows for some of the highest speeds out there.
It’s powered by a great team of people who are far more competent than I am, so their high-level customer support and hawk-like security can keep you at ease. As part of their zero logs policy, they don’t even take connection logs. You’re safe with IPVanish.
There is an option for simultaneous connection across your devices, however it is only possible to use 1 OpenVPN connection and 1 other protocol (either L2TP or PPTP) at the same time.
The website is clean and simple to navigate. Because it’s so well ordered, any information that you might need is quick to find.
Plans and Pricing
IPVanish is a more premium priced VPN and although there are cheaper options out there, not many deliver the same level of value. There are 3 pricing options that differ by the length of the plan. For those with new hobbies or partners every month, maybe the monthly subscription of just $10 is the best option. If you can stretch out your commitment level to 3 months, the total for the period will be $26.99. I wouldn’t trust my math, but I think that’s a 10% saving. For a full year, it comes to $77.99. That maths is way too hard, so I just looked at their website and it works out to $6.49 per month. Not bad.
Because the IPVanish people are kind-hearted, they offer a 7 day money-back guarantee and you can pay with Bitcoin, Paypal or Credit card.
Thankfully, IPVanish have updated their live support so that it’s now available 24/7, year long. This means that Australian’s will no longer have to face late nights to get tech support during US office hours. Their live chat team are helpful and experienced, able to address most common problems quickly and without giving you a headache. The rest of their support is solid, so you might not end up ever having to use their live chat. They have excellent setup guides, a great FAQ and some pretty comprehensive troubleshooting, while their forums are another useful resource that can give you the information you need.
Privacy and Security
This is the important part ̶ it would kind of defeat the purpose if a VPN was great except for when it comes to privacy and security. IPVanish allows for almost complete anonymity. All you need is an email address and a password if you pay with Bitcoin. For payments with credit card or Paypal, their high-level security means that you don’t have to worry.
This is quick and simple. Just an email address and some cash (not literal cash) is all it takes.
It’s simple to pick your location and connection type and you also have the option to launch IPVanish on start-up. You can even change your IP from time to time. There is also an account and support tab, although it is ported from the website. Your connection can be controlled from your taskbar, which is another helpful feature.
We tested out the speeds and here’s what we got:
|No VPN||Open VPN||L2TP|
|Download Speed (Mb/s)||30.1||26||28.1|
|Upload Speed (Mb/s)||3||2.8||2.8|
IPVanish supports most operating systems and devices, including Android and IOS. The IOS app lets users connect with L2TP or PPTP, while the Android app has an OpenVPN connection. It is also possible to manually connect to the other protocols. The speeds through the app are similar to those through Windows, while the app’s features are simple, but with everything you need.
IPVanish is a rock solid VPN. For all of the features that are included, it comes at a reasonable price, although this is considerably more than the entry-level VPNs. The security is great, with top-notch encryption and shared dynamic IPs. Their zero logs policy is another aspect that sweetens the deal for those who are concerned about their privacy. It’s fast and the support systems in place are very useful in case anything goes wrong. Having access to more than 500 servers worldwide doesn’t hurt either. The only minor problems are that users are only able to use one simultaneous connection, the company is US based and the clients don’t have a whole lot of advanced settings.
